2008 Aschoff’s Rule Winner: Michael Rosbash

Michael RosbashMichael Rosbash studies both RNA processing and circadian rhythm regulation. Together with fellow Brandeis University researcher Jeffrey Hall, he cloned the period gene in Drosophila in 1984, and later proposed a negative feedback model of circadian regulation with period at its center. Rosbash is now a professor of biology at Brandeis, an adjunct professor of molecular biology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and an investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and has received numerous awards, including the NIH Research Career Development Award and the Caltech Distinguished Alumni Award.
